Clinical Supervision Course and Training: Individual Psychotherapy
This 40 hour comprehensive and in depth post-graduate level course and training on clinical supervision is designed for psychotherapists and psychologists who wish to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to assume the role of clinical supervisor for candidates applying for registration with a regulatory body and for registered psychotherapists who wish to continue their professional growth and development.
The course and training are framed within a Four Dimensional (4-D) Model of Clinical Supervision which comprises developmental, social role, competency, and process dimensions. The 4-D Model of Clinical Supervision, or part of it, can be used by a supervisor of any theoretical stripe. The supervisors would differ in terms of the Competency Dimension particularly as it relates to the application of concepts from a specific theory and the ensuing treatment which follows from that theory. The course and training offer the participant the tools needed to be an effective, confident, sensitive, and competent supervisor.

Adolescence Psychology
(Currently offered as a reading course)

The course presents the developmental factors in the biological, psychological, and sociological changes that occur during the transition from childhood to adolescence and from adolescence to young adulthood. It pays particular attention to the role that family, peers, and media play in this transition. It provides research methods and findings regarding the adolescent’s intellectual, emotional and social development.
The course is designed primarily for practitioners who work with adolescents and addresses the psychological theories of normal development and of psychopathology, discusses assessment and diagnosis, and offers treatment options.

The Safe And Effective Use of Self.
​
This 30 hour course will provide participants with the theoretical knowledge and supervised practice to enable them to develop their competence to safely and effectively work with psychotherapy clients. Participants will develop their awareness of how their own subjective experiences such as personality factors, insights, perceptions, thoughts, feelings, needs, and judgments can negatively influence or positively inform the therapeutic relationship, process, and outcome. Training will be delivered through theoretical instruction, case studies, demonstrations, and supervised practice.
The instructor will assist participants to develop the competency to safely and effectively use their self in their work with clients. Participants will be provided a certificate of training upon completion.

SIRP 5141 – Counselling Techniques:
Theory and Practice:

This thirty-five hour course presents and demonstrates four commonly used counselling techniques and provides opportunities for the participants to practice them. The techniques to be presented include Experiential Focusing, Gestalt Two-Chair, Task-Directed Imagery and Ego State Therapy.
The manner in which these techniques are used by the major counselling approaches and how they are used to treat specific human conditions will be indicated.

SIRP 7131 – Thematic Apperception Test for Children and Adults
​
This fifteen hour course introduces the participants to the theory underlying the use of thematic apperception tests and to the procedures for coding the client generated stories. The stories will be assessed for relational and self needs, coping strategies, relational styles, projections, conflicts, anxieties and representation of self, others and the world.
The participants will learn how to infer these from the relational patterns and dynamics of the characters in the stories. The participants will acquire the skill to code protocols, conceptualize the cases, and use this information for the purpose of treatment.
