Unit III - SIRP 6141 - Treatment/Practicum

In this unit, participants learn how to identify relational and self-themes, apply concepts derived from Self-in-Relationship Psychotherapy,  and apply therapeutic skills and techniques adapted from humanistic psychology and action-oriented therapies to the treatment of: (1) disorders of the self, (2) relational problems, (3) long-term after effects of trauma, (4) personality disorders, and (5) anxiety disorders.

The training consists of a participant presenting a case which is assessed using the Psychosocial Assessment Form and conceptualized using Self-in-Relationship Psychotherapy constructs. The instructor then demonstrates how to work with a self or relational issue with the participant playing the role of the client. Following successful completion of this unit of training, participants, under supervision, are expected to be able to work with client issues using the Self-in-Relationship Psychotherapy approach.
